CapitolPachydermsLogospacer

For lack of a better method, player numbers are chosen according to the principle of lucky numbers as found using the Sieve of Eratosthenes and first discussed in modern times by Stamislaw Ulam in 1955. This method was chosen in a double-lucky, extra-mystical ceremony, whereby the phrase “lucky number” was searched for using Google’s “I’m feeling lucky” function, and a page about lucky numbers popped up.

In a nod to the team's family names' position firmly in the latter half of the alphabet, the following are listed in reverse alphabetical order.

Kimberly Therese Amira Franz Karl Zenz
(Team Number 99)
"Captain"

A good American, Kimberly speaks English, German, Russian and Persian (the last one rather badly). She lived in Austria, Saudi Arabia, Russia and Uzbekistan before attempting her current, (relatively) more stationary existence in the DC area working on IT security issues, and still spends an inordinate amount of time elsewhere. She particularly likes Afghanistan and Dubai. Despite her frequent travels (41 countries and counting), Kimberly is very much a product of Washington, having attended Episcopal High School in Alexandria, William & Mary in Williamsburg and Georgetown's School of Foreign Service in the city itself. Her interests include horse polo, helicopters, graphics design, history and economics.  She would love to keep elephants but for the time being the logistics are prohibitively complex. She can be reached at Kimberly (at) dcelephantpolo.com.

Courtney Deana Rosemarie Zenz
(Team Number 7)

"Dark Horse"

Courtney is a true DC native, having been born in one of its Northern Virginia suburbs. She grew up there, the Middle East, the UK and in Austria, and is currently back in the Washington DC area. While in DC, Courtney fulfills her duties as Heir Apparent to the Zenz Empire while still having enough spare time to build her own real estate portfolio.  Her heart no longer in direct clinical patient care, she is pursuing an MBA concentrating on medical administration from Johns Hopkins University. She enjoys polo, karaoke, yoga, dance, and excessively remodeling her home. She does not like paragliding, being mistaken for a high school student, nor being called "cute". She can be reached at Courtney(at)dcelephantpolo.com.

William (Bill) Webster
(Team Number 15)

"Wild Bill"

Bill Webster grew up in the DC area, specifically southern Maryland.
He also studied in Washington DC; Bill earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland and is currently working on his masters in international affairs from Georgetown University. Between his academic adventures, Bill served several assignments overseas for the US military. He currently resides across the river from DC in Arlington, Virginia where he is employed as an analyst for the Department of Defense.

In addition to being a spirited elephant polo player and an expert scuba diver, Bill is also the Capitol Surf Team Surf Nepal champion. He is also a nascent rally racer, as he, Kimberly and Courtney will represent the United States this summer in the London-Mongolia Mongol Rally.

David Wildridge
(Team Number 63)
"Wildpig"

David is the hero of the Capitol Pachyderms. When we first met David, he played for the world champion Angus Estates team, and later as a Taprobane Tusker, but that didn't stop him from helping our fledging team, and arguably saving the 2007 Taprobane Trophy. His assistance and cool head, his loyalty and his valuable advice are all greatly appreciated. David is also really great fun.

When not playing elephant polo, David plays horse polo and is a professional and amateur pilot. He divides his time between Madrid, Spain and Oxford, England.

Fergus (Gus) Prentice
(Team Number 13)
"Hawkeye"

The Capitol Pachyderms are proud to congratulate Gus on winning the Good Sportsmanship award at the 2007 World Elephant Polo Championships at Tiger Tops, Nepal. Way to go, Gus!

Nicole Theresia
Stick Mum

While most teams are forced to rely on stick chicks or - Quel Horreur! -get their own mallets (aka sticks), we at the Capitol Pachyderms are our fortunate enough to have our very own Stick Mum. Not only does she race mallets out to the field during play, she sorts the tangle of mallets by size, labels each section, carries snacks for the elephants and players and takes photos from the back of the towering umpire elephant, all with an impressive amount of patience.
